How Power Splitter Installation Actually Works (What to Expect on Install Day)

One of the first questions people ask, right after "does it work," is "is it hard to set up?" Fair question — nobody wants to sign up for a construction project just to fix a shared-meter headache. So here's exactly what installation involves.

You Don't Need a Special Technician

Power Splitter installs onto your compound's existing prepaid meter setup. Any qualified electrician can handle it — there's no proprietary certification or special training required, and full instruction manuals come included with every unit. If you already have an electrician you trust, they can install it.

What Actually Happens

Each apartment, room, or shop that needs independent billing gets its own Power Splitter unit, connected to the same underlying central prepaid meter. The electrician mounts and wires from the central meter into the IN of the power splitter and then connects the OUT to the wire taking power to the specified unit using that power splitter. Nothing about your compound's existing prepaid meter needs to be replaced, and there's no need to rewire the whole building.

After Installation: Setting Up the App

Once the hardware is in place, the next step happens on your phone, not with tools. Download the app, create an account, and connect it to your assigned unit. From there, whoever's managing that unit be it a tenant buying independently, or a landlord managing centrally, is ready to start buying and tracking electricity.

What You'll Want Ready Before the Electrician Arrives

  • A smart phone to use to download the app to connect to the hardware

  • Clarity on how many units you need — one per apartment, room, or shop being split

  • Access to the compound's existing prepaid meter setup

If You're Still Deciding

Installation isn't the hard part, it's a straightforward add-on to what your compound already has, not a rebuild. The bigger decision is usually which usage model fits your compound: tenants buying independently, or a landlord managing it centrally. That's worth sorting out before your electrician shows up, since it doesn't change the installation itself, but it does shape how you'll use the app afterward.
